Product description Weller revolutionized soldering. The art of soldering has existed for a very, very long timethousands of years, in fact. However, it was not until 1941 that an impatient American radio repair technician, tired of sitting around waiting for his soldering gun to heat up, developed a transformer-based soldering method with instant heating. Carl E. Weller had to wait until the end of World War II in 1945 to establish his Weller Manufacturing Company. In 1960, Weller Manufacturing Co. patented the Magnastat soldering iron in the United States, using a magnetic component to sense the temperature at the irons tip. As part of an overseas expansion that began in 1959, the Weller GmbH plant in Besigheim, Germany, was established along with new plants in other countries to manufacture temperature-controlled irons and soldering guns primarily for industrial markets throughout Europe and the Middle East. Keeping pace with the increasingly complex needs of our customers, Weller Germany has developed into a worldwide leader in the development and manufacture of soldering products. Manufacturers product description The Weller Pyropen WSTA3 is a lightweight, completely portable soldering iron ideal for field service jobs. It does not require a cord, batteries, or charging. This unit heats up in 30 seconds, and its temperature adjusts from 392F to 932F. The sturdy metal tank holds enough gas for three hours of operation; butane is sold separately. Inactive hot-air nozzles for low temperatures are available. UL listed. Made in Japan.
