Tradescantia is an attractive foliage plant for indoors and heated conservatories. It thrives particularly well in bright locations without direct sunlight. Its characteristic oval leaves are crossed by two silver stripes in many species. The plant grows as a trailing plant and forms densely leafy stems, making it especially suitable for a hanging basket. Water the Tradescantia moderately, but always allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings to prevent waterlogging. From March through September, feed the plant every 4 weeks with a nutrient-rich fertilizer for green plants. During winter, place the plant in a cooler location at approximately 1215C and reduce watering somewhat. Continue to ensure a bright location.
