How can the foam be cut? Foam up to 2 cm thick can be cut with scissors. For thicknesses from 36 cm, you can use a utility knife or a sharp kitchen knife. An electric kitchen knife works very well for processing all thicknesses. What does RG 36/45 mean? The density, or volumetric weight, of the foamthe first number, measured in kilograms per cubic meterindicates the durability of the foam quality: the heavier the foam, the longer it retains its specific properties. For example, a 100 x 100 x 10 cm panel has a volume of 0.1 m; 0.1 m 36 kg/m equals a weight of 3.6 kg. The higher this number, the higher the quality and durability of the foam. Our recommendation: A seat cushion should have a density of at least 36 kg/m. The compression hardnessthe second numberdescribes the firmness of the foam: the higher the value, the firmer the foam feels. Please note that, for clarity, the figures are given in tenths of a kPa at 40% compression rather than in kPa. Thus, 45 corresponds to 4.5 kPa. What should I consider if I want to sew a cover myself? If the foam is covered with fabric, we additionally recommend using polyester upholstery batting. This material protects the cover fabric and the foam from abrasion. Our upholstery batting can be found using the search term B08BFZ7B1J. For fastening, we recommend spray adhesive for foam, available under the search term B08BFZYR53. The spray adhesive can also be used to bond the foam to materials such as wood or textiles. Useful information: The foam may yellow due to exposure to air and light. It is not suitable for visible installation. Cutting may result in dimensional deviations of +/- 15 mm or 1% of the specified cutting dimensions. This is not grounds for a complaint.
