This stainless steel flat bar is made from austenitic stainless steel. It offers good resistance to non-oxidizing acids and intergranular corrosion, including after welding. These properties are achieved through the addition of molybdenum and the reduced carbon content. Stainless steel flat bar 1.4404 is easy to form, polish, and weld, and provides good corrosion resistance and toughness. Stainless steel 316L flat bar is resistant to pitting corrosion, offers good resistance to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking, and is not susceptible to intergranular corrosion. The flat bar has a maximum operating temperature of up to 450 C. The listed properties also include suitability for acidic media due to the addition of 22.5% molybdenum, use at temperatures up to +550 C and down to 200 C, good forgeability, and very good weldability.
