The stainless steel flat bar is made of austenitic stainless steel. It offers good resistance to non-oxidizing acids and intergranular corrosion, even after welding. These properties are achieved through the addition of molybdenum and the reduced carbon content. The 1.4404 stainless steel flat bar is easy to form, polish and weld, and offers good corrosion resistance and toughness. The 316L stainless steel flat bar is not susceptible to pitting corrosion, has good resistance to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking, and is not susceptible to intergranular corrosion. This flat bar has a maximum operating temperature of up to 450 C. The flat bar has the following properties: very good resistance to intergranular corrosion; suitable for use in acidic media due to the addition of 22.5% molybdenum; suitable for high temperatures up to +550 C; suitable for low temperatures down to -200 C; easy to forge and very easy to weld; not polishable. Typical applications include exhaust technology, the food industry, the fatty acid industry, shipbuilding and reactor construction.
