Compared with the previous 3RT1 series, the 3RT2 series offers higher performance. The 3RT2 contactors are climate-resistant and suitable and tested for worldwide use. They are finger-safe according to DIN EN 50274. Devices with ring cable lug connections meet IP20 protection when used with the corresponding terminal cover. The 3RT2 contactors are available with screw, spring-loaded, or ring cable lug connections. For overload protection, 3RU21 thermal overload relays or 3RB30 electronic overload relays can be mounted on the contactors; the overload relays must be ordered separately. For S00-size contactors, the surge suppressors are plugged onto the front of the contactors, leaving space for an attached auxiliary contact block. Note: When the contactor coils are suppressed against voltage peaks, the release delay of the normally open contacts and the pickup delay of the normally closed contacts increase. The delay increases by 6 to 10 times with a suppression diode, 2 to 6 times with diode combinations, and by 2 to 5 ms with a varistor or suppressor diode.
