Product description The success story of the Maria shape began in 1916. The dinnerware service was named after Maria, the wife of company founder Philipp Rosenthal, whom he married in 1916 and who was 35 years younger than him. Maria represents porcelain history and table culture. It is one of Rosenthals most popular and successful porcelain dinnerware services. For generations, it has been used for weddings and other festive occasions, combining style and timelessness. This polygonal dinnerware shape, with its distinctive edge relief in the form of a fruit garland, became Rosenthals most extensive service. More than 80 different individual pieces are available. Over the decades, Maria has remained highly popular and is one of the most extensive and best-selling dinnerware shapes of all time. With its wide range of specialty and additional pieces, Maria meets the highest individual expectations of classically contemporary table culture and presents itself as a complete gourmet collection. The elegant charm of this shape lies above all in its classically inspired form and the balance of classical and romantic design elements, such as the delicate pomegranate relief. The classicist, polygonal basic shape is framed by a delicate, finely curved pomegranate relief that incorporates design elements of the Biedermeier period.
