How to iron on a patch: Place your garment on a flat, heat-resistant surface, such as an ironing board. To ensure the garment provides a good surface for the patch, iron it first. If it is a backpack or another item that is difficult to iron, arrange it so that the part of the fabric where you want to attach the patch lies flat on a hard surface. Now place the patch in the desired position. The adhesive side should lie flat against the fabric. Make sure the patch is not crooked. For embroidered patches, the adhesive side is the underside. Preheat the iron. Set it to the hottest setting suitable for your fabric. Make sure the steam function is turned off and that your iron is not filled with water. Place a thin towel over the patch. Make sure the patch does not move. The towel protects the patch itself and the fabric underneath. Press the hot iron onto the patch. Hold the iron in position for about 15 seconds. Apply as much pressure as possible by pressing firmly downward. Remove the iron and let the patch cool. Lift the towel and check whether the patch is securely attached by gently trying to lift it at the edge with a finger. If the patch can be lifted, place the towel over it again and press the iron onto the patch for another 10 seconds.
