Phlomis tuberosa, also known as tuberous Jerusalem sage, is a hardy, perennial plant for beds and borders. This easy-care garden perennial adds distinctive structure with its upright stems and characteristic whorls of flowers. As a robust bedding plant, it offers a natural look and complements both classic perennial plantings and modern steppe and prairie gardens. It is ideal for gardeners looking for a long-lived, uncomplicated perennial for the garden. Tuberous Jerusalem sage prefers a sunny to partially shaded location and well-drained, rather lean soil. It is drought-tolerant and requires little care; regular watering during the establishment phase and occasional removal of faded flowers are sufficient. Pruning in late winter encourages compact new growth. Phlomis tuberosa is excellent as a structural plant and combines well with ornamental grasses, salvia, and catmint. As a long-lived perennial, it is a reliable choice for low-maintenance planting schemes in beds and borders. Choose Phlomis tuberosa for a hardy, easy-care, robust perennial that will enhance your garden for years to come.
