This 8 mm auger bit with a length of 600 mm is designed for drilling in wood and is suitable for beams, squared timber, solid wood, glued laminated wood, and wood-based materials. The 600 mm version provides an extra-long tool for timber construction, assembly, interior finishing, and workshop applications where clean holes need to be drilled through substantial material thicknesses. The bit is made of hardened carbon tool steel. This material provides a stable basis for wood-drilling tools and supports a durable cutting geometry during regular use. Hardening increases the wear resistance of the cutting edges and contributes to reliable drilling performance in typical wood-based materials. The centering point enables precise positioning on the workpiece. The lead screw at the tip draws the bit into the wood in a controlled manner and reduces the required pressure. This supports an even drilling process. The auger bit is equipped with a pre-cutter for clean hole edges. It pre-cuts the wood fibers at the edge of the hole and helps reduce tear-out. At the same time, the Lewis spiral provides very good chip removal and reliably transports chips out of the borehole. The taper toward the shank, ranging from 1:50 to 1:100, is intended to help prevent the bit from becoming stuck in the hole and to support smooth running in the material.
