Countersunk sheet-metal screw with Phillips H recess. Sheet-metal screws do not require a pre-cut thread. For thin sheet metal, predrilling may be omitted. Otherwise, predrilling with a drill of the appropriate pilot-hole diameter is required. A low rotational speed should be used with a cordless screwdriver or drill. Countersunk sheet-metal screws sink the head too deeply into the material, so they should not be used without countersinking first. Unlike other metal screws, sheet-metal screws do not have a metric thread; instead, they are tapered, similar to wood screws. A sheet-metal screw can be easily identified by its compact shape and its thread extending all the way to the screw head. Screw locking is generally not required when using a sheet-metal screw. Sheet-metal screws are used to join sheet metal in profiled sheets, facade cladding, and load-bearing structures. Suitable sheet-metal materials may include stainless steel, aluminum, steel, brass, nickel, or copper. An advantage of sheet-metal screw connections is that they can be loosened again at any time. Stainless steel A2 V2A: Screws made of rust-resistant A2 stainless steel. Stainless steel construction enables use both indoors and outdoors. Stainless steel sheet-metal screws are suitable only for use with soft metals.
