Drawn cup needle bearings with open and closed ends have a very small radial section height. They consist of thin-walled drawn cup outer rings and needle roller and cage assemblies, forming a complete unit. These bearings provide a particularly compact, easy-to-fit design with high radial load capacity. To support axial forces, they can also be used in combination with AXW series axial needle bearings; see the table link for details. Most bearings have a single-row design and no lubrication hole. Two-row designs have a lubrication hole and the suffix ZW. For certain applications, open-end drawn cup needle bearings are also available in a full-complement design. Drawn cup needle bearings require a ground and hardened raceway on the shaft. If the shaft is not used as the raceway, they can be combined with IR or LR inner rings; see the link for inner rings. If axial locating elements such as shoulders or retaining rings are not used, the housing bore can be produced easily and particularly economically. This also simplifies bearing installation. Open-end drawn cup needle bearings are available with a needle roller and cage assembly or with a full complement of needle rollers. Bearings with needle roller and cage assemblies can operate at higher speeds than full-complement designs.
