Neutral density filters allow precise control of the light reaching the sensor for both photography and video. Reducing the amount of light makes it possible to use slower shutter speeds for long exposures. In video, this reduction allows the use of wide apertures such as f/1.4 for bokeh in bright conditions while maintaining a 1/50-second shutter speed, depending on your needs. HOYA uses an exclusive coloring process called ACCU-ND for uniform color deposition, resulting in accurate density values and excellent color neutrality. HOYA PRO ND-EX filters reduce transmission equally in the visible and infrared spectrums. The HOYA PRO ND-EX8 reduces light by 3 stops (T = 12.5%), the PRO ND-EX64 by 6 stops (T = 1.56%), and the PRO ND-EX1000 by 10 stops (T = 0.10%), making it a popular filter for long exposures. HOYA ultra-clear optical glass is precisely inserted into an aluminum ring with front and rear threads, allowing a lens cap to be attached. Filters can be stacked to achieve different densities; for example, combining a PRO ND-EX8 and PRO ND-EX64 provides a 9-stop density equivalent to a PRO ND-EX500 (T = 0.20%). Testing for vignetting before shooting is highly recommended. HOYA PRO ND-EX filters are available in diameters from 49 mm to 82 mm.
