Product description Pipe insulation sleeves with lengths of 1.7, 1.8, or 1.9 m. Insulation thicknesses: 9 mm, 15 mm, or 20 mm. Polyethylene pipe insulation. Easy to install, highly flexible, dust-free, and simple to fit. Does not absorb water and is suitable for outdoor use. Physiologically neutral and does not rot. WHY USE PIPE INSULATION? Energy savings Pipe insulation is important for retaining heat in pipes and ensuring that it reaches its destination without excessive heat loss. Pipes may run through cold areas such as garages and roof voids, where heat loss into these areas is undesirable because it reduces the efficiency of the heating system. There are also good reasons to insulate heating pipes running through heated areas, in order to prevent these areas from overheating. In this way, heat is delivered directly to thermostat-controlled radiators in living spaces without excessive losses in circulation areas. In larger buildings, secondary hot-water circulation and heating pipes must be insulated to prevent overheating in hallways, where pipes are often located, significantly improving system efficiency, especially when the hot-water boiler may not be as efficient as the space-heating boiler. As a general rule, the larger the pipe diameter, the thicker the insulation should be. Example calculations for pipe heat loss: A 22 mm copper pipe has heat losses of 61 watts per meter without insulation, 11.3 W/m with 9 mm insulation, and 8.3 W/m with 13 mm insulation. Therefore, 10 meters of flow and return pipes in a garage or roof space could waste more than 600 watts of heating energy. Frost protection Using pipe insulation in winter protects pipes from frost.
