Hifonics ZX6.2W | 16.5 cm (6.5 in) kick-bass speaker The ZEUS series has represented power and excellent sound in the HiFonics lineup for many years. For the first time, individual components such as high-quality cast-aluminum midrange drivers and woofers are available alongside component systems and coaxial speakers, making 3-way combinations possible. The woofer in the component set, also available separately as the ZX6.2W, features a cast-aluminum basket and an aluminum phase plug. The sandwich cone consists of a three-layer fiberglass composite that is particularly lightweight while remaining highly stable. Its frequency response is extremely linear and requires very little correction using crossover adjustments. Powerful performance is provided by the robust 14-ounce magnet drive, which powers a generously sized 30.5 mm voice coil. This enables total mechanical excursion of up to +/- 11 mm. The separately available 25 mm ZX6.2T fabric neodymium tweeter with coupling chamber and a 700 Hz resonance frequency also covers a particularly wide frequency range, extending well beyond 24 kHz with highly linear response. The key feature of the 2-way component set, however, is that it is already prepared for 3-way operation. The optional 7.5 cm ZX-M3 midrange driver can be connected to the ZXO-2 crossover with minimal effort: Simply switch the jumpers on the crossover to 3-way mode and connect the midrange driver with the band-pass crossoverfinished. The midrange driver also features excellent components, including a cast-aluminum basket, an aluminum cone, a large 25 mm voice coil, an additionally ventilated spider, and a powerful neodymium drive.
