Flexible couplings offer numerous advantages for connecting PVC pipelines, especially when connecting PVC pipelines to materials that are difficult or impossible to bond, such as stainless steel, PP, PE, concrete, and polyester. They are also well suited for transitions between metric and English/US pipe sizes. The couplings are highly flexible and can be used when pipelines are not precisely aligned. They can be installed and removed quickly for system modifications, test setups, or temporary installations, without the labor-intensive and unhealthy adhesive bonding of connections. Flexible couplings can connect pipelines at temperatures below freezing, when adhesive bonding is not possible. In many cases, they also allow quick emergency repairs of broken pipelines, such as those damaged by frost. In addition to simplifying pipe installation, the flexibility of the plastic components helps dampen vibrations, such as those caused by pumps, and contributes to preventing stress fractures in PVC pipelines.
