The three-phase system: In the long term, renovation carried out in three steps has proven reliable. The first step is the superficial removal of mold. Cleaning with water and a suitable chlorine-free cleanerFAKOLITH FK 12has proven effective. Under no circumstances should mold be scraped off while dry, as this would further contaminate the rooms through airborne spores. Cleaning alone, however, is not sufficient. It is also important to stop the growth of fungal mycelium in the substrate. For this purpose, we developed an antifungal solutionFAKOLITH FK 14based on a quaternary ammonium compound, which is toxicologically harmless and penetrates deep into the substrate. The final coat with FAKOLITH FK 10 anti-mold paint provides preventive protection against renewed mold infestation. FAKOLITH FK 5 is a high-quality, non-swelling, vapor-permeable coating based on pure acrylate.
