How to iron on a patch: Place the garment on a flat, heat-resistant surface such as an ironing board. To ensure the garment provides a good surface for the patch, iron it first. If it is a backpack or another item that is difficult to iron, arrange it so that the section of fabric where you want to attach the patch lies flat on a hard surface. Place the patch in the desired position with the adhesive side flat against the fabric. Make sure the patch is not crooked. For embroidered patches, the adhesive side is the underside. Preheat the iron and set it to the hottest setting suitable for your fabric. Make sure the steam function is turned off and that the iron contains no water. Place a thin towel over the patch, taking care that the patch does not shift. The towel protects the patch and the fabric underneath. Press the hot iron onto the patch for approximately 15 seconds. Apply as much pressure as possible by pressing firmly downward. Remove the iron and allow the patch to cool. Lift the towel and check that the patch is securely attached by gently trying to lift it at the edge with a finger. If the patch can be lifted, place the towel over it again and press the iron onto the patch for another 10 seconds.
