Drill America DWDTS Series HSS taper-shank drill bit, designed to fit Morse taper holders. It is designed for use in a variety of materials in the iron and steel families. The black oxide surface treatment provides wear resistance, reduces chip welding, and improves chip flow. High-speed steel offers a combination of hardness and toughness for wear resistance in most general-purpose applications. The black oxide treatment adds lubricity and creates small surface pockets that hold coolant near the cutting edge. The Morse taper shank allows the tool to be inserted directly into the machine spindle for high-torque applications, such as large-diameter cuts. When running counterclockwise (right-hand cutting), the spiral flutes lift chips up and out of the cut to help reduce clogging.
