8 mm clear tempered safety glass, custom cut up to 120 480 cm (1200 4800 mm), with ground and polished edges and eased corners. Tempered glass is thermally toughened, making it considerably stronger than regular glass and particularly resistant to impact and bending. It is also less sensitive when hot objects are placed on a glass tabletop, for example. If broken, tempered glass crumbles into small glass fragments, helping to minimize the risk of injury. For these reasons, tempered safety glass is used for tabletops and as glass panels for door and window inserts. Tempered glass must not be modified after manufacture, for example by drilling or sawing.
