5 mm clear tempered glass panels, custom-cut up to 100 x 1700 mm, with ground and polished edges and blunted corners. Tempered glass is thermally toughened, making it considerably stronger than annealed glass, particularly against impacts and bending. It is also less sensitive when hot objects, for example, are placed on a glass tabletop. In the event of breakage, tempered glass crumbles into small glass granules, helping to minimize the risk of injury. For these reasons, tempered glass is used for tabletops and as glass panels for door and window infills. Tempered glass must not be modified after manufacture, for example by drilling or sawing.
