5 mm clear tempered safety glass, custom-cut up to 210 x 270 cm (2100 x 2700 mm), with ground and polished edges and eased corners. Tempered safety glass (ESG) is thermally toughened, making it considerably stronger than ordinary glass, particularly more resistant to impact and bending. It is also less sensitive when hot objects are placed on a glass tabletop, for example. If it breaks, tempered glass shatters into small glass granules, thereby minimizing the risk of injury. For these reasons, tempered safety glass is used for tabletops and as glass panels in doors and windows. Tempered glass must not be modified after manufacture, for example by drilling or sawing.
