12 mm tempered Satinato/frosted glass panels, custom-cut up to 20 40 cm (200 400 mm), with ground and polished edges and eased corners. Tempered safety glass (ESG) is thermally hardened, making it considerably stronger than ordinary glass, particularly more resistant to impact and bending loads. It is also less sensitive when, for example, hot objects are placed on a glass tabletop. If it breaks, tempered glass shatters into small glass granules, minimizing the risk of injury. For these reasons, tempered safety glass is used for tabletops and as glass panels for door and window infills. Tempered glass must not be modified after manufacture, for example by drilling or sawing.
