Instructions for use: 1. Place the applicator on a completely level test surface and set the blade gap to twice the required wet-film thickness. 2. Pour a small amount of the test sample between the end plates at the front of the coating blade. Move the instrument across the surface at a slow, uniform speed of approximately 12 cm per second until the liquid has been fully coated and/or any remaining liquid has been removed from the end of the coating path. 3. The exact relationship between wet-film thickness and the coating-blade gap depends on the material used, the viscosity and texture of the liquid, the pressure applied to the coating blade, the coating speed, and the geometric shape of the coating edge. 4. Measure the actual wet film with a wet-film thickness gauge and adjust the gap until the required wet-film thickness is reached. Maintenance: 1. Clean the instrument immediately after each use with suitable solvents. 2. Both ends of the blade move in the groove. Keep the groove free of sample material at all times. 3. The differential heads may occasionally need to be repositioned. To correct wear or displacement, the components must be lowered or raised. This can be done by loosening and removing the two concealed set screws on each differential head.
