Widely used with water, steam, air, oil, and other neutral high-temperature media. Used for fire insulation of pipes and as a static seal for containers, heaters, manholes, furnace openings, high-temperature flanges, and similar applications. This packing is intended as an alternative to conventional asbestos seals. It is suitable for door seals; sealing furnaces, kilns, and boilers; expansion joints; cable or pipe coverings; and high-temperature seals. These products are widely used in welding and foundry operations, aluminum and steel plants, boiler insulation and sealing, exhaust systems, shipyards, refineries, power plants, and chemical plants. They are also used as cores in tadpole seals. The three available designs address different application requirements: twisted rope is soft, while square and round braids are denser and stronger.
