Many different sizes and colors are available. Materials suitable for manufacturing heat-shrink products must meet a wide range of requirements. The type of base material is determined by the required performance characteristics of the finished product. For low-voltage applications, this usually leads to the selection of a polyolefin material, but in special cases PVC, Teflon, Kynar, Viton, or various elastomers may also be used. The mechanical properties are additionally influenced by the addition of fillers such as carbon black, kaolin, chalk, and similar materials. Polyolefins are used in Intratec 2:1 heat-shrink tubing. Processing instructions for heat-shrink tubing: 1. When selecting the tubing size, choose the tubing so that a minimum shrinkage of 20% and a maximum shrinkage of 80% are possible. This allows the tubing to fit neatly. 2. When cutting the tubing into sections, ensure that the cuts are clean and straight. Corners or edges may cause the tubing to tear during the shrinking process. 3. Since all heat-shrink tubing shrinks both lengthwise and crosswise, cut the tubing slightly longer than the section to be insulated. 4. When shrinking, begin in the center of the tubing and continue shrinking toward both ends. This prevents air from collecting under the tubing.
